OVC has just returned home after participating in Unison Festival, a quadrennial weekend choral festival in Halifax featuring Canada’s 2SLGBTQIA+ choruses. This year's theme was "Open Harbour" and we programmed a diverse repertoire that highlights the importance of coming together and supporting one another, especially in challenging times.

Hosted by the effervescent Tonia Bates, One Voice Chorus presents an evening of choral music and interviews with choristers and Board members about what it's been like to live the past 12 months online as a rainbow choir. There's never been a 10th-anniversary season quite like this!

This is a conversational interview and history with members of Rocky Mountain Singers the precursor mixed voice queer choir that existed in the nineties.

Kevin Allen is the Research Lead of the Calgary Gay History Project, author of 'Our Past Matters: Stories of Gay Calgary', and researcher for 'A Queer Map: A Guide to the LGBTQ+ History of Calgary.'
The Story Project will culminate in a multi-media concert of stories and song on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 7:30 pm at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church. Some of the stories will be presented live onstage, and others of the stories will be presented as printed prose, poetry, or visual art and displayed on story boards on concert night.
Are you a tenor with good to excellent sight-singing skills? Are you an alto looking for a rainbow choral home? Then consider auditioning for One Voice Chorus! Auditions will be held on Monday, January 20th.
One Voice Chorus has commissioned Calgary Gay History Project’s Kevin Allen to start research on a topic that Kevin believes has been underrepresented --- the history of Calgary’s transgender community. Come and hear Kevin speak on Sat Jan 18 at 7:30 pm at the New Central Library, with live music from One Voice Chorus!

Over this past concert period, OVC choristers have been on a powerful journey with members of the Indigenous community. We have laughed and cried with our distinguished guest Indigenous artists and speakers, and a question that came up repeatedly was: "How can non-Indigenous folks be allies to our Indigenous neighbours?

Vancouver's Brian Tate is the founding conductor of the Universal Gospel Choir, a jazz vocalist, and a composer with dozens of publications to his name in both gospel and world-music genres. In this Calgary workshop, Brian taught participants a variety of his brand-new gospel and world-music pieces, and all by rote --- no sheet music, which means that singers were treated to a fun workout for their musical ears and a great opportunity to look up and sing!

One Voice Chorus' first full-length holiday concert played to a full house at our new concert location, Scarboro United Church. August 20, 2012 ~ Many thanks to our steering committee and our first Board of Directors for their hard work and leadership this past year. Due to their diligent effort and the commitment of our membership, we are now fully incorporated as One Voice Chorus Society.
September 2011 ~ Calgary's newest mixed-voice LGBT choir held its first auditions and first rehearsal. Co-founders Cora Castle and Jane Perry recruited the first choir members and the Unitarian Church of Calgary generously donated rehearsal space to the fledgling choir.
September 2, 2012 ~ Look for One Voice Chorus to be marching on September 2nd down a Calgary side-street near you!
