One Voice Chorus (OVC) shows its pride! OVC will be “out loud and proud” on the streets of Calgary as we celebrate at the Pride Calgary Parade on Sunday, August 31. Saturday's Think Big concert—a concert about big themes and big issues—will feature the world premiere of an original composition by One Voice Chorus bass Daryl Crockford entitled "Stand Up!" This seems only fitting, given the attention paid during the Sochi Olympics to Russia's ongoing human rights violations directed at its LGBTQ community. "Stand Up!" is dedicated to those who came before us, to those who fought and lived, and to those who suffered and died. This piece reminds us of the historical and ongoing struggles of the LGBTQ community here in Canada and around the world. We continue to proclaim that "it's time to be counted" and "time to be free!
