Beginning on a High Note

September 2011 ~ Calgary's newest mixed-voice LGBT choir held its first auditions and first rehearsal. Co-founders Cora Castle and Jane Perry recruited the first choir members and the Unitarian Church of Calgary generously donated rehearsal space to the fledgling choir.

September 2011 ~ Calgary's newest mixed-voice LGBT choir held its first auditions and first rehearsal. Co-founders Cora Castle and Jane Perry recruited the first choir members and the Unitarian Church of Calgary generously donated rehearsal space to the fledgling choir. The first four singers in the choir, as luck would have it, are all sopranos, so our music reaches way up into the tinkly registers! We are an enthusiastic little group and we can't wait to recruit singers for the other voice parts!

March 2011 ~ We now have a name! "One Voice Chorus" was a runaway favorite among the choir members. It captures both our sense of unity in diversity and our passion for music.

It captures both our sense of unity in diversity and our passion for music.Many thanks to Amber Phalen for capturing our new name in a logo! This dynamic image features the choir's acronym 0VC, the GLBT six-coloured rainbow, a stylized singer, and the sun overlooking our beautiful, hilly city of Calgary.  Absolutely fabulous!
